14 Month update

Eve turned 14 months this weekend.  Here's a quick recap of recent updates:

- She's taken steps a few times, and she's stood without pulling up on something a few times, but she still doesn't seem so interested in really starting to walk.  We shall see.

- Her third tooth today broke through the gums today.  The previous two came in the end of Sept., so it's been a while without any new teeth.  Weirdly, this one is not one of the upper middle teeth - it's the one just to the left of the middle two teeth.  The corresponding right tooth is super-close to breaking through as well, so it seems that Eve will be looking kinda jack'o'lantern-ish for a bit (two middle teeth on the bottom, and two outer teeth on the top).

- Eve's been saying a pretty good number of words, which is really fun.  Since the last blog update on her words, she's added Hanna, papa, byebye, night night, home, 'hi, X" (hi, mama; hi, dada, hi, Hanna, etc.), ball, hello, hand, more, book...and others that just aren't coming to mind right now.

First steps

Two parts to this...

Friday night: Eve was standing a small distance from an ottoman, and she took two steps towards it. The steps were far from measured - she really kinda fell toward the ottoman,  moving her legs forward to keep herself from face-planting. I am not sure I would really count these as first steps, though it was definitely new and exciting.

Sunday (ie, today): Eve took six measured and clearly intentional steps toward my hands (I was standing behind her, with my arms outstretched in front of her), and lowered herself down.  These seem more like real first steps to me, though Graham thinks the Friday steps should count.

I think we still have a ways to go till she's really walking, since she's still not a regular at standing. But, regardless, this is a definite milestone.
